The Winter Storm caused sudden Power Outages in the Sinclair Neighborhood. Darkness seem to engulf the small Private Community. Somehow this Welcoming well to do neighborhood had lost it’s glitter, it’s lights.
The Sinclair Country Club Lights could usually be seen glistening in the moonlight from up to five to ten miles out in any direction. It’s appearance from afar with the purple overhead lighting gave it Grand Stadium look.
Sara could tell we were frightened and starting to get frigid from the cold. She had been the Twins Nanny since they were three months old. They just celebrated their twelfth birthday last week before their parents left on business.
There Cellphones still had service. Sara connected them on a three way call as moved about the house getting blankets, the Candle from the kitchen, drinks and snacks. She kept the girls engaged in conversation as she gathered everything and placed it in a basket.
Once she got the girls snuggled as a bug with the blankets. Sitting on the floor Sara lit the Small Jarred Candle. It flickered and flared giving off a gentle bright light that gave them all a sense of security. The Flickering Candle pushed back the darkness giving them the sense of light.
Sara settled on the small Loveseat in the girls room and phone the Electric Company regarding the PowerOutage. As she suspected their had been various calls. There was a recording offering apologies, explanation and a timeline of 2 hours.
Sara took a deep breath as looked at the Flickering Candle the beauty of the light. The Twins were amazed at the melted wax, it color against the jar.
They enjoyed eating snacks, telling stories of old and how they will never forget this night. Their time together, the small Jarred Candle, which gave them so much Light.

Yonnie, warm family story. I can remember candles used at my grandmother’s house years ago when a summer storm knocked out power. The flame brought peace and a feeling of safety.
